About Nowish
A guide to what's on and where to go in Malta and Gozo, made by people who live here.
Why this exists
Nowish started with a simple, recurring question: what can we do today? With a toddler, the answer is never just “the beach”. It depends on the weather, the time, whether there’s shade, a café for the adults and somewhere to change a nappy. The information exists, but it’s scattered across Facebook pages, ticket sites, old blog posts and word of mouth. Nowish puts it in one place, organised by what you actually want to do and who you’re with.
It’s made in St Paul’s Bay by a parent who uses it every week: for weekend plans with a small child, for finding a gym, a padel court or a football match to watch, and for the village festas that make Malta what it is.
Where the listings come from
Events are collected every morning from organisers’ own pages and from public what’s-on calendars in Malta. Every event links back to its source, so you can always check the original and buy tickets there.
Places are found town by town and then checked one by one against public information: the official website, social media pages, opening hours, contact details and recent mentions. Places that have closed, or that we can’t confirm, are taken off the site. Each place is re-checked every few months.
We use AI to do this at scale: to search, to compare sources and to write short summaries in plain English. That’s how one person can keep thousands of listings current. The facts come from the sources; the AI helps sort and describe them. It does get things wrong sometimes, and we fix mistakes as soon as we or our readers spot them.
What we don’t do
Listings are free and nobody pays to be included or to rank higher. Photos are either the venue’s own, openly licensed (for example from Wikimedia Commons, credited on the page) or our own illustrations. We don’t publish photos taken from review sites.
Spotted a mistake? Own a listing?
Places change fast. If something is wrong, closed or missing, or you run a venue and want to add photos, opening hours or your events, write to us and we’ll fix it, usually within a few days.
